Tuesday morning in the Amazon

It’s another beautiful morning here and I have the place, and the internet, all to myself. The internet has been either not here or, yesterday, excruciatingly slow, but I may be on a roll now.

Yesterday morning Fernando came back from Iquitos with our new music teacher, Rafael. After breakfast he went to rest and we headed to the library for the Monday morning meeting. We didn’t get there, because the engine wouldn’t start. But we made up for it in the afternoon, there was music everywhere!

These are the non-musicians, reading with each other.

Some of the older kids you see in these next shots come from the other library, Sapo Playa.

  1. Hi Jane! I met you at Explorama Lodge in October and thought of you today. I came across (4) paperback children’s books written in Spanish and wondered if you would like me to mail them to you for the library. My daughter rescued them when the local library was going to toss them. I believe you live in Florida? Send me an email with your address and I will drop them at the post office.

  2. I’m so sorry, I have been neglecting this blog, and just saw your note.
Yes, if you still have the books, I would love them. Thank you for sharing.

I plan to return to the library in October. It will be my 6th year.
